Press pause play... again
Started watching more videos on the press pause play website. Really interesting and inpsiring stuff. and quite positive for creative people too, who have a lot of competition these days in the arty world.
My conclusion was based a lot on the thoughts from this website.
Art Mail
"Mail art is a worldwide cultural movement that began in the early 1960s and involves sending visual art (but also music, sound art, poetry, etc.) through the international postal system. Mail Art is also known as Postal Art or Correspondence Art. The term networking is often used to describe Mail Art activities, based on the principles of barter and equal one-to-one collaboration.
After a peak in popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Mail Art phenomenon has gradually migrated to the Internet, whose “social networks” were largely anticipated and predicted by the interactive processes of postal collaborations. "

Art House co-op
"Art House creates massive, international art projects that tie thousands of artists together – and anyone can participate." Their aim is to communicate with thousands of artists, who have in mind to share and collborate through creativity and in the end to show this to the masses.
"We host many of the exhibitions for our projects at our gallery in Brooklyn, NY called The Brooklyn art Library. In an attempt to give artists as much recognition as possible, as well as providing the opportunity to see the exhibition that they're a part of in person, we have started taking select projects to guest galleries around the country."
Art House is a really good idea, and really lets artists put their work out there. It is a little less active than what I am trying to show, but i really like it. And see it as a massive positive from the internet. How you can produce work in England, send it to this website and it can be presented in New York, where many others can see it. You may not gain anything from this fame, or money wise, but it is sharing your creativity that i am really interested in.

Booooooooom! Creative collaborative blog
Boooooom!
At first approaching this website, i believed it to be another photo browser type thing where many people posted pictures to the website. Only going into this project have i realised that it is quite similar to craft zine and quite perfect for my idea.
It is a website that aims to produce a community of people wanting to get out and be creative, exactly what i am trying to show in my website.
They are constantly putting on projects, and things to get people active and it all just looks like a lot of fun. Here is an example of one of their projects, based in Vancouver, that anybody could get involved with. They just have to make a small driftwood out of anything natural, go down to a a particular lake in Vancouver on a certain day, take a picture and let it ride. Then upload it to the booooom website.
It seemed like many people got involved and had a great day.
This blog really seems to pull people together through being silly and creative and also gets people outside having fun and enjoying non computer air.
Another great thing about this website is that many creatives can join the site and have their work often posted on it, or running along the side as a sort of advertisement. It really seems to be helping out those artist to get noticed.

Sleeve face
This is a nice little trend going on, where people obscure their face, or whatever really, by putting a vinyl record cover over it. When it first started it did look really cool, and still does, but is everywhere now. But this is the whole point of my project, the fact that everyone is doing it. People get away from their computer and get tactile with their record collection and camera.
I don't feel this idea unifies people or is as physical as much as other things like the craftzine or musical parades, but it is nice and cool to see how many people do actually do it and to see all the many pictures.
Despite saying that everyone does it, i don't think i've actually seen two that look similar. There most likely is two of the same vinyl cover, but i like how everyone has their own way of doing it.

Arcade Fire
Arcade fire and their interactive videos. Less outside than OK GO but really great ideas, and possibly one of the first bands to involve their fans, and anybody in their videos like this. After watching it several times you notice how it changes too.
It's really interesting. It's not quite laying out what i'm trying to say from this project, but it definitely does show the amount that people are getting more creative, especially bands and how they are evolving to get their fans even more involved.
